BareMinerals Barely There Make-up

bare minerals skin finish review

bareMinerals is exactly that: Mineral make-up that looks as if it is barely there. Personally I love the play on words for the ‘bare minimum’ as the brand to me screams quality cosmetics that are light on the skin and give an effortless, natural finish. Before trying out the range I was sceptical of mineral powder foundations that I had seen advertised, not believing that a powder could give the full coverage of a traditional foundation. So when baerMinerals brought out their bareSkin Mineral Brightening Foundation I was definitely keen to see if the hype surrounding mineral make-up and what this new concept had to offer…

The first products that I tried were bareMineral’s Prime Time – a BB Cream Primer – which has a light and soft texture against the skin, one that I don’t really know how to describe. Unlike previous primers that I have used that are quite thick, this fluid glides on like velvet and it helps to give a dewy finish when worn under any foundation that I have tried this with, so I would say it gives more of a glowy and radiant look rather than being good for keeping make-up set in place all day.

Then, what really got me, were these amazing 5in1 eye shadows, which deceivingly look like little lipglosses. Containing a similar applicator that that inside the tube, I love the neutral shades of this collection and upon application they are wet on the eye and then they dry into a lovely cream consistency. I find that they stay put all day and don’t tend to wear off around the crease of your eye – as I hate it when that happens if you do a natural smokey eye with browns and nudes. I also think that these little babies are perfect for travelling with as you don’t have to worry about your traditional powder smashing anywhere on route and the small size is, shall we say, too cute for my liking.

I also gave their ‘Frame & Define’ eye brow definer a whirl. As I suffer with chronic barely there brows syndrome, I either have to rely on eye brow dye, pencils or powder to bring them to life, so I am always up for trying new pencils and products. Being a twist pen (meaning that no sharpening is required) was one factor that sold this product to me, but perhaps this colour is a little bit too dark for my eyebrows and I would be better with the lighter option of the two colours available instead.

Now, on the the final mighty product that you have all been waiting for: the BareSkin Pure Brightening Foundation. With an easy Shake, Drop, Buff method this product promises to magically transform your skin from drab to fab through application with their uniquely designed foundation brush – which I have to say, feels super soft against the skin – you can see their video here with amazing before and after results and top tips for applying this product here.

I do like how this foundation again feels light, soft and silky against the skin and I would wear this on days that I want to achieve a barely there look, but as I also like full coverage foundation due to having the odd skin flare up, if you like to wear, should we say ‘heavy’ foundations, then you may not be a fan of this product but the finish looks flawless and is definitely worth giving a go to try a radiant, dewy look that is kind to your skin.
