A 5* stay in a luxurious Suite on the Keizersgracht Canal

The Dylan Hotel Restaurant Amsterdam - travel blog reviewThe Dylan Amsterdam 5 Star Hotel Review

Last weekend James and I travelled to Amsterdam to explore the delights of the beautiful Dutch city for a brief 36 hours, whilst staying at the luxurious five star boutique hotel, The Dylan, positioned on the Keizergracht Canal and oh boy, was this one of the best hotels that we have stayed in so far.

Not only were the staff friendly, polished and attentive, the interior and design of The Dylan is both inviting and spectacular at the same time. It was a shame that we were only able to stay for one night really, as if we go back to Amsterdam a stay at The Dylan will definitely be on our ‘to do’ list.

Our Room: A Luxury Suite With A Garden View

Upon arriving at The Dylan, we were kindly upgraded to a Luxury Suite from a Double Room (thank you very much to René, the General Manager, and the team for this) and en-route to our room we were greeted by our very own private staircase that lead up to an impressive open plan living room / bedroom with an attached bathroom, which was both classic and stylish in design, a mix of old and new with wood beams and modern accents.

As you can see from the pictures above, our room also had a lovely view of the hotel’s garden from one of the many windows, which can also be used for Weddings and private functions; a setting I can only as pure delight during the warmer summer months.

Again, our bathroom had an almighty *WOW* factor and was attached to the room with a small corridor leading through to what I can only call a colossal sized bathroom. The minimal design made this light and picture perfect area the epitome of “Pinterest Worthy” bathrooms and the bathtub was even big enough to fit James in, who is 6 ft 7 and often struggles to find a tub that can accommodate for his long legs. This was actually the first time James has ever said he enjoyed having a bath and that he actually wanted to have another one the next day, which must go for something. So, if you are tall then you will definitely experience a relaxing bath time treat if staying at The Dylan hotel!

Also to add, the bed was the comfiest bed that I have slept in before and we both had a really peaceful night’s sleep in preparation for our second day of sight-seeing. If I did have anything negative to say it would just be that I struggled to see the TV in the bedroom area without my glasses from the bed, as I think it was only about 14 inches and set back a little bit, so that is the only thing I would comment on, but this was made up for by the large screen TV in the living area, if you were wanting to watch any TV before a bit of shut-eye.

Around The Hotel

On site The Dylan boasts a number of places to enjoy some tasty food and drink, starting with their Brasserie OCCO (pictured in the shots above), which has a comfortable and modern lounge setting, as well as the One Michelin Star Restaurant Vinkeles, which is run by Executive Chef Dennis Kuipers.

As well as these eateries The Dylan also has three options for enjoying your favourite coffee, cocktail or whiskey: The Garden, Bar Barbou and The Lounge (pictured above) where James and I enjoyed some drinks on Saturday after our meal and a red wine by the fire before we departed for the airport on the Sunday.

In total The Dylan hosts 40 rooms and is Amsterdam’s ‘Hidden Gem’. So, If you are looking for a bit of luxury on a break to Amsterdam – and lets face it, we all need it from time to time – then The Dylan could be the perfect location that you are looking for.
