HONEYMOON LOCATIONS PT 2 – MEXICO / CARIBBEAN / USA

I previously wrote about my ‘Top 5 Exotic Honeymoon Locations’ here, as if you didn’t know, James and I are getting married in Cyprus next June and will be heading on honeymoon shortly afterwards. After sitting down and thinking of the type of honeymoon we would like to embark on: a relaxing holiday that also allows for adventure and a mix of activities, below are three locations that have made it to our final list!

In the opening image of this post is the Finest Playa Mujeres resort in Mexico, which is currently the front runner for our honeymoon. I have always wanted to go to Mexico, to experience the beautiful beaches and the juxtaposition of lively night life and a relaxing cocktail by the pool. A holiday here would also allow for daytime adventures, such a visiting the Mayan temples or swimming with dolphins, which is on my honeymoon bucket list. Here we would have the option of a swim up suite or a private terrace and plunge pool (above). As it is our honeymoon I think ‘why the hell not’ and that we should go for our own private balcony!

CARIBBEAN

Who could say no to the white sands and blue skies of the Caribbean? Apart from the obvious amazing beaches, the Caribbean and it’s picturesque towns would be the perfect destination for exploring colourful old buildings and busy streets in-between a spot of R&R. One way that we have thought about discovering the Caribbean, is to go on a Caribbean cruise, which would allow us to see a number of places such as Bridgetown and St. Georges. I have never actually been on a cruise before, so it would be fun to try something new for our first adventure as a married couple together.

USA

To throw in something completely different to a beach holiday, James and I have been pondering whether a mini tour of the USA would be the right trip for our honeymoon. Places that we would most likely want to tick off our list would be San Francisco, California, Miami, LA and Texas, as we both love American culture and I am sure that James would want to fit in a game or two of NFL if we could! Perhaps if we could find a few beach locations to add in the mix, then the USA would be the perfect trip, although it may require a lot more planning.

So they are the three destinations that are at the top of our honeymoon destination wishlist. We will have to make a decision on where to go soon, but so far it is looking as though Mexico is winning. Do you have a favourite honeymoon destination?
