Summer Fashion 2016: Vivid Colours. Testing The Trend…

And Not Looking Like Spongebob Squarepants In The Process…

If you have been following my blog or Instagram page for a while – you can find me @lurchhhoundloves if you are not already following. I am a lover of minimal styles, muted tones and barely dabble with vivid colours: until now!

When I was asked to share my take on the new season trends for SS16 with F&F Clothing, I thought I would challenge myself to style this beautifully bright mustard yellow suede gilet, which fits perfectly with the Vivid Colours trend, as noted in Marie Claire’s Spring 2016 Trends Report.

As seasons come and go, so do the new fashion trends. I like to keep on top of the new trends and to add them to my existing wardrobe in a way that I feel comfortable. To be stylish you don’t have to deck yourself out head to toe in the latest trend sweeping the catwalk and fashion magazines. Instead, I would recommend finding a way to make it work with your existing style.

Dipping My Toe In The Vivid Colours Trend

Bright colours work really well with a muted base. Which is why I have reverted back to my love of monochrome to start this outfit. I actually get so many comments on my skirt, which I picked up in the Whistles sale. I love the origami vibes and the structure of the skirt makes it look chic, minimal and also expensive. If I could deck my whole wardrobe out with Whistles I really would, as I adore the brand. However, I am a huge magpie and only really like to buy expensive purchases in the sale!

I am thinking of doing a post for my tips on buying designer items in the sales, so let me know in the comments below if this is something you would like to see!

Going back to the subject at hand, you could go all out and colour block the s**t out of your outfit. But, that really isn’t me. So I think that the pop of colour lets your statement bright do all of the talking for the vivid colours trend. Don’t you think?

Have fun with your outfit experiments

One of my favourite things to do is to wear trainers with my outfits. I love the play on sporty Vs girly and dressy Vs casual vibes. This stems from my tomboy years at primary school and my love for fitness. So it is something I will continue to play on during and after it is considered ‘fashionable’ to wear white trainers.

Adding to my vivid colour trend experiment is this fantastic pair of white trainers from Daniel Footwear, which if you can spot have got bright red detailing on the back of them. Which, is a subtle nod to the bright colour trend this season, should you wish to dip your toe in at the shallow end to begin with.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF VIVID COLOURS?

The mustard colour of the vest goes so well with your blonde hair. Love this casual outfit. I’m loving shirt dresses right now.
