STYLING SKIRTS AND TRAINERS: Off Duty Looks Part Two

If you saw part one of my “Off Duty Looks” you will already be familiar with my new Saucony trainers. And from the title of this post you can probably guess that my second instalment is about styling skirts with trainers….Ta Da!

Trainers Don’t Automatically Have To Be Sporty

Wearing trainers doesn’t automatically mean that you have to wear a sporty look. From minimal to statement you can now get your hands on trainers in all, colours, shapes and varieties to suit every taste and style. It is also becoming more acceptable to wear trainers as a girl for everyday wear. Not that it never used to be, but when I was in primary / high school and lived in Adidas sportswear (hence my obsession with Sporty Spice) I was referred to as a “tomboy” and was probably looked over as being ‘attractive’ from the boys at school. But now even the girliest of girls can wear a pair of kicks and not be referred to as a boy: GIRL POWER!

Monochrome outfits and playing with textures

As you know – and I keep banging on about – monochrome is my go to look. To try and make my looks a bit more interesting, I prefer to play with textures rather than colour. To compliment the suede vibes of my trainers I styled my New Look suede popper skirt with this fabulously fringed jumper from Karen Millen, which you can currently get your hands on in their sale.

I wore this outfit to go for Ice cream at Granelli’s in Macclesfield when the sun was shining on National Ice Cream Day. Hopefully I can get my legs out with skirts and trainers for a little bit longer is the British Summer time lasts! Are you a fan of skirts and trainers?
