MY STYLE EVOLUTION STORY

FASHION BLOGGER LURCHHOUNDLOVES

I AM WEARING: Dress, Jacket & Trainers c/o Marks and Spencer | Rings c/o Jane KoenigShop this look below

Over the past couple of years, blogging has allowed me to feel more confident and comfortable in my own skin. Looking back, I must admit that when I started Lurchhoundloves I would try out some of the latest trends (even if I didn’t feel comfortable wearing them), as I felt it was my duty as a fashion blogger to do so. I could not have been more wrong!

I set up my blog to share my love of affordable fashion online, but it should also be a place that allows my individual style to shine: this is something that I have taken on board over time and has helped my style to evolve (alongside my confidence) into what it is today. I will never be one of those effortless girls who can walk around in heels all day. I am most comfortable wearing trainers or flats and adopting a ‘minimal’ vibe to my outfits, which is what you will see today when reading my blog.

I guess what I am trying to say is that your style and tastes will change over time and hey, there is nothing wrong with trying out something new. But, don’t feel like you have to dress a certain way because you should do. Dress for yourself, wear what you feel comfortable in and find a way to incorporate the latest trends into your wardrobe that still lets your individual style shine.

A big thank you to Marks and Spencer for asking me to share my style evolution story. I would love to know about your own style transformations in the comments below. And if you love this outfit you can shop it below (p.s. these trainers are a great Stan Smith dupe for only £25!)

Could not agree with you more. I wrote something similar in a blog post about culottes the other day, I like to take 'safe risks' if that makes sense?! That dress is divine. Is it lined with something not so…suede?

Thanks lovely – exactly, I know do dressing for me rather than what I think I should be wearing! It has a lining yes and is faux suede 🙂 xxx

I agree with how important it is to follow your heart and not the crowd. Its so easy to get caught up every trend in order to please others- not just in terms of fashion but also with out personal lives too. Ftr, I do think your style is great! x

Looking lovely! Totally agree it takes time to find your own style, and sometimes trying out trends that don't work for you are a part of that. I've definitely found my own style as I've gotten older! x

Thanks Lizzy. Yes, definitely. But now I am older I also feel a bit more comfortable in my skin and style, so wearing what you love it the way to go <3 xx

So True! You feel like you have to try everything new to be 'cool' or a 'good blogger', but it is so not true. You read a blog for a love of some-one's personal style. Although it is good to experiment but to also do YOU at the same time and thank you <3 xx

Thanks Maisy. Yes, so true. I have only really started wearing clothes for myself in the past year and I feel so much more confident for it xx

Can't believe this whole outfit is from m&s pretty much, they have totally up'd their fashion game. I love your laid back style chick, keep it up 🙂

This is so true! Blogging can make you feel like you have to follow a particular trend and it's so easy to lose your sense of individual style. It's nice to get out of your comfort zone and try something new, but fashion is so trial and error!

    Great post as always!
