Designer Sunglasses and Finding the Perfect Pair

Since getting my nose job in November last year, I have found that the majority of sunglasses and glasses in my existing eyewear collection are now the wrong proportions for my face. Or, they do not fit comfortably on the bridge of my nose, as it is now wider than it used to be. So when SmartBuyGlasses got in touch to see if I would like to style a pair of their sunglasses, I knew the topic that I wanted to cover: How to invest in the right pair of designer sunglasses for you.

Sunglasses are the perfect accessory for adding style points to any outfit. They also have the capacity to showcase your style, increase your confidence and express your personality. If you can find the right designer pair to suit you, then they are definitely worth investing in for your forever wardrobe.

Before buying a pair of designer sunglasses, below are 5 questions to ask yourself:

1. What style of sunglasses suit my face shape?

From aviators to cat eyes and wayfarers or oversized styles. Before starting to delve into the world of sunglasses, you can find out what styles will suit your face shape best here.

2. What is my budget?

Consider what your maximum spend is before you start browsing online for your designer sunglasses. This means you can filter your search for your price range, which will eliminate spending hours scrolling through pairs out of your budget.

3.  Who are my favourite brands?

My go to brands for sunglasses are Ray-Ban, Celine and Saint Laurent. Because I know I love these brand aesthetics and I find their styles to be timeless and classic. Of course, it is good to experiment and try new brands every now and then. But, if you are investing in an expensive pair of sunglasses, to start I would say stick to what you like.

4. What size lens and bridge do I need?

Although I LOVE 62mm width lens over-sized aviators, they are simply too big for my slim face! When sunglasses shopping consider the lens width (I generally can’t go for wider than 51mm and look for glasses around 48mm) and also the width bridge you will need for them to sit correctly on your face.

5. Classic or Contemporary?

Before shelling out for a pair of designer sunglasses, consider what look you are going for. If your wardrobe consists of chic staples, then a classic pair of sunglasses would be perfect for you – such as an all black pair of Celine sunglasses, or black and gold Ray-Bans. However, if your wardrobe is bursting full of colour and the latest trends, you may want to go for a contemporary style that mimics these. Such as mirrored lenses, coloured frames and novelty styles including the Fendi Iridia or Hypno Shine sunglasses.

After asking myself these questions, I went for the Celine Baby Audrey sunglasses, from SmartGuyGlasses range of Celine frames, as I think they ooze cool whilst remaining classic and chic (like the majority of my wardrobe staples). They also suit my face shape and have 47mm width lenses, which make them the perfect fit for my slim bone structure, as they still look pretty oversized on me too (bonus!). So be prepared to see these sunglasses a lot more with my outfit looks from now on!

I lived in Ray Bans for years … but broke them around once a quarter. Now I buy primark sunglasses, as I don’t care if I accidentally sit on them!
