The Coatigan Can Move To One Side This Year
For 2018 I’m swapping my thick wooly jumpers & cardigan/coat hybrids for the real deal:the cardigan.
From shaggy cardigans – like my popular Nasty Gal cardigan that went down a storm on Instagram here – to longline cardigans, chunky knitted cardigans and thin cropped cardigans for layering. I want them all.
In 2018 granny chic rules, so if you can actually raid your Grandma’s wardrobe for some vintage cardigans then I would highly urge you to start rummaging through the attic & older family relatives’ clothes archives now!
Last year I re-ignited my love affair with cardigans after buying an ASOS cardigan, which you can see on my Instagram page here. I had originally spotted Lizzy Hadfield on shotfromthestreet.com wearing a chunky black & Other Stories chunky knitted cardigan here. But, I couldn’t justify spending £60 on a cardigan at the time, as then I didn’t realised how obsessed I would become with them.
In a recent shopping binge on ASOS I scoured the cardigan section and added about six to my basket to try. The cardigan worn in today’s blog post ended up being my favourite by far, which I have also filmed for a haul that will be going up on my YouTube channel (in case you wanted to see what other cardigans I picked up).
I personally think that cardigans look best when they are styled with a simplistic outfit.
Think minimal blue straight leg jeans or tailored trousers with a cami top or plain t-shirt with a cardigan layered over the top. I am actually also a fan of wearing a cardigan with a nice bralette underneath and some layered necklaces too – providing the V is not too low on the cardigan!
Cardigans also look great layered over other knitwear, skirts and dresses but the casual laid back vibe is my favourite Parisian slant for a minimalist cardigan outfit. See here for some inspiration.
To complete today’s look I have worn my new Gucci loafers for the 1st time! I have previously written a post on Gucci loafers and the best dupes on the high street here. Do let me know if you would like me to do an updated version with my new pair of Gucci loafers, or a post specifically on these and my other pair of Gucci loafers with their pros and any cons (if I can think of any negative things about them!)
I love ASOS for it’s shopability and quick delivery/returns process.
I have been through & picked out a few of my favourite cardigans available on ASOS, which you can shop by clicking on the image or shop the category here.
