Charlotte Buttrick Bronde Haircare routine - tips for salon worthy hair

So you want to know how I look after my locks…

I have and always have been (since finishing university) an advocate for using professional products on your hair at home. I turned to professional haircare products available in salons over grocery store/high street alternatives after a few hair disasters whilst at university. Lets just say I did a lot of experimenting with my hair, including DIY bleaching that led to me having to have all of my hair cut into a pixie crop, which I have been growing out ever since; trust me, I did NOT suit it!

Through learning the hard way I now know the importance of looking after your hair and giving it the nourishment that it deserves. Being a blogger I am very lucky to be able to try out new professional haircare products and various samples. So when Paul Mitchell got in touch to ask if I would like to be a part of their #BehindYourBottle campaign I obviously jumped at the chance to trial a new professional haircare brand I haven’t tried before.

In todays post I’m sharing the Paul Mitchell Color Protect products I have been using alongside my top tips for how I look after my locks & keep them salon worthy.

How I Keep My Locks Salon Worthy

I have been asked a few times on Instagram (@charlottebuttrick) to do a post on how I keep on top of my locks and any haircare routine that I follow. Below I have outlined how I look after my hair, so hopefully you will find my routine helpful. If you have any additional questions let me know…

HOW OFTEN DO YOU WASH YOUR HAIR?

I try to wash my hair just twice a week, usually every 3-4 days. I have been doing this for the past 3 years or so and have noticed a massive improvement in how quickly my hair grows and it’s overall health. To make my hair last between washes dry shampoo is my best friend!

WHAT IS YOUR SHAMPOO / CONDITION ROUTINE?

When washing my hair I shampoo twice, only applying the product to my scalp and massaging the product into a lather. I don’t take the product down my hair as when I rinse off the shampoo with water it runs through my ends. When using conditioner I apply this from mid lengths to ends and leave on my hair for 2-5 minutes before washing out. To pass the time I usually shave my legs whilst the conditioner works it’s magic on my hair.

DO YOU USE ANY HAIR TREATMENTS?

At least once a month, or every two weeks, depending on how much heat styling I have been applying to my hair I use an intense treatment or hair mask whilst relaxing in the bath. I also like to apply a leave in spray conditioner in addition to conditioning my hair after every wash.

PAUL MITCHELL HAIRCARE

Founded 38 years ago by animal lovers and philanthropists John Paul DeJoria & Paul Mitchell, Paul Mitchell haircare was the first professional beauty company to become cruelty-free. They have never tested on animals and they never will. All of their scientifically innovative hair products are researched, formulated and tested on humans. Now that’s refreshing isn’t it!

THE COLOR PROTECT RANGE

For my hair type, as it has been coloured with bleach and dark blonde tones, I was recommended to use the Paul Mitchell Color Protect range and to be honest I usually do opt for hair products for coloured hair. Powered by sunflowers the Paul Mitchell Color Protect system helps to provide UV protection for your hair and scalp.

Upon first use of these haircare products I was firstly taken aback my the gorgeous fragrant scent that filled my senses in the shower. Fragrance notes in the Color Protect range include bergamot, jasmine, gardenia and apple blossom, which are all components that I love to look for in a perfume too! As well as smelling great and making my hair feel soft, manageable, shiny, light and non greasy . The Paul Mitchell Color Protect range is vegan, colour-safe, paragon-free has UV protection and is cruelty free.

WHERE CAN I BUY PAUL MITCHELL PRODUCTS?

Paul Mitchell hair products are sold through professional hairdressing salons in the UK. You can find your local stockist at paul-mitchell.co.uk.
